Chunky thighs galore

You can see in the close up of the thighs that she's got a roll on her right thigh but not on her left thigh. This is the only sign we had. The Dr said it would be normal for babies with hip dysplacia to put equal weight on their legs and not seem to have any problems, fyi. Interesting fact we learned today.

The ortho appt went very well. After the exam the Dr said he didn't see anything to be alarmed about but we did an xray just to make sure we weren't missing anything. The xray showed all was asymetrical, yeah! So, no frog contraption for Jaylen. And, since she just learned to roll over we don't have to stop her. Or stop the scooching she's doing after the roll over. Wait, maybe this isn't a good thing? LOL! Seriously, she'll move a foot away from where I put her on the ground. This girl is so ready to be on the move. When I'm sitting on the ground with her on my lap she'll trying to stand up. She looks like she'll just get right up and start walking away. She wants so much to go hang out with the big kids! Lord help me. And Papa too!!!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and prayers! I'm so ever grateful for you all and for our four healthy children!

On an off note, it's 3:40 am and she's been up for an hour and is still talking. yawnyawnyawn.

Jaylen -5 months

Today, Valentine's Day, Jaylen took it upon herself to have a busy day! She is officially rolling over! I put her on her back and she goes to her belly and if she could figure out how to get those arms moving she'd be moving across the room. EEK! And then she moved on to her next milestone and broke in her first tooth! She'd had a few cranky days in the past couple of weeks but today you would never know she was teething!

She had her check up this last Friday. 18 lbs 1 oz! OH MY! Almost 27 inches long. 97%tile in height and weight!

Since she was undressed I was reminded of something I was trying to show Rob -who just made fun of me - and mentioned it to the dr. Jaylen has some chunky thighs but I noticed a few weeks ago one has a crease (a chunky roll) and the other doesn't. Dr looks, said I was right, and "oh, that isn't good." Checked her hips and looks like her left one is clicking and slipping. We go to the ortho next week for more info and xrays and whatever. If it's bad she'll go into some contraption that will hold her legs up (like a frog?) so allow the joint to bond better. Not doing this will ensure future surgeries and doing may prevent them. I'm not going to "worry" until I hear from the ortho, but in the scheme of life, this isn't something to worry about.

She sleeps, she sleeps

Four nights in a row this girl has slept through the night. Then why, OH WHY, can't I???

She's been our best sleeper, really. Usually only waking once in the night for a change and a feed and then back to sleep. Lately has been taking a longer siesta and getting up about 5-6 for a couple of hours. I can barely get 2-3 good straight hours of deep sleep. And, I'm sure she'll be changing her ways as soon as I do get into that deep sleep. She's busy trying to learn so much. She can roll over when she holds my fingers for leverage and has rolled back twice, but hasn't figured out yet she can do that by herself anytime. As soon as she's on her belly her little tush goes up, legs curl up and she looks like she's about ready to crawl away! She is seriously ready to be on the go. Me, not so much. LOL

She loves to dance and will giggle for me when we do. Carter thought he should hold her the other day, grabbing her off the couch. She fell to the floor and cried for a sec and decided she didn't mind. Luckily it wasn't a long fall. Gotta watch that boy! I can't leave her on the floor without being in the room because he'll go give her hugs and kisses, which actually reads, he'll go smother her. But, I'm glad he loves her so much. Since the alternative would be awful!
editted to add...this girl is 17 lbs! WHAT??? 3months and 17lbs? And tall, she mostly wears 9mo clothing so it's long enough for her legs. I've got a 3mo outfit on her today and it comes up to her knees. You all know she isn't get her height from me! LOL

Jett Travolta

I just want to take a moment to say how horrible and tragic it is that his life on Earth has come to an end. It's not right, it doesn't make any sense, and all I can do is offer my peace and light to his family. Not that they know me from Adam but it's hit me just the same as if I did. He sure looked like his daddy!

Jett Travolta RIP

Where are my kids?

We invited Malachy to come stay the night but he wasn't quite sure so it turned around to Hudson staying the night with his cousins at Papa's house. He was buckled in my van when I asked Chari if she had room in her car and if that would work, so he got out, said yes, and like a sonic character was in their car before I blinked. LOL We were at Meadowwood Mall at the time. The rest of us drove home and while I'm getting off the freeway Avery, who hadn't said a single word (which is SO not like her) finally says, "Mama, where's Hudson? He's not back here, you know?" Good thing I know what's going on and not counting heads. Chari ended up needing to come to by my house, behind me, and I realized she actually had another seat and my sad little girl perked right up and ran to her car as soon as we asked if she wanted to go!

This is the first time that they've been away overnight when it wasn't a babysitting thing. I was nervous about Carter not sleeping in his bed without Hudson in the room but he and daddy camped out on the couch. He got to stay up a little bit late but it did nothing to help him sleep in, much to Rob's wants.

Carter enjoyed his one on one time very much. In the afternoon I asked him where Hudson and Avery were -"I don't know?" and went down the hallway calling, "Avvvveryyy, Hudddsonnn" I told him where they were and he called for them one more time and then was fine going back to not having to share a single thing. Ahhhh, no screaming MINE today.

Daddy got back our exersaucer for Jaylen and she was loving it. At first she just stood and looked and looked. Then, out of nowhere, she let out two super cute giggles! Later, Carter was playing with some cups that he put down on her saucer. She managed to knock them all down while trying to grap them. And you know what Carter did? "NO, MINE" and then he took them. Then went back to her again and said MINE. And again. And so it begins.......

Saturday in the early evening Jaylen and I go to Papa's to pick up the kids. Chari told them, "Guess who's on their way???" Avery said, "NONONO! and Hudson said he'd wanted to go live with them. They aren't missing us one bit. :( I get them dressed to leave and they followed directions and got going. I told Hudson to say goodbye to everyone because they were leaving tomorrow. "You mean they're going back to their house?" and then waterworks. So I caved and got Papa to say he could stay another night. Went for Avery to tell her Hudson was staying with Malachy and she listened and when I was done just put her head down and started her big ol' tear with her silent heart breaking breathing. Papa saw this and you know Papa. So Jaylen and I went home together. Rob thinks I'm a sap, of course, but I love that they get to spend more time with their cousins and they're having a blast. Unfortunately, I'm having some weird dreams because I'm missing them too much! But, I did talk Rob into get Chinese Food for lunch yesterday! Something we don't get because of Hudson's peanut allergy. It was delicious!

And Carter slept in his bed on the second night afterall, and is still there! That poor guy needed some good sleep!

The Bryan Family- Thank you for watching over my kids and letting them stay with you guys! I wished we could have spent more time together but as always, I charish the times we have! Enjoy some good tea when you get home! Be safe traveling today! Love you!

Editted to add: Papa brought them home today. Not before Hudson puked....in the Porsche. Opps. Sorry Papa!

Rob-have a winning record for our football team, paint at least one more room this year, getting the big "V", and defeating Dr. Eggman.
Jen-to be better organized, be a better wife, mother, friend, and housekeeper, be healthier, buy less, and scrapbook more.

Hudson-do more science, read a lot, be better at sports, unplug stuff when we're not using them, turning off lights, and learn to ride my new bike!
